The French capital competes with candidates, as Rome, Boston and possibly Hamburg, pending the outcome of a referendum. Choice will be in mid-2017.

Paris gave the green light on Monday (13/04) to the city’s bid to host the 2024 Olympics. The decision was approved by the vast majority of lawmakers in the French capital.

“Paris broke into the adventure of the Olympics. The historic vote represents an important moment in our collective life, “said the Mayor of the French capital, Anne Hidalgo, after the decision. Only representatives of the Green Party and the extreme left have voted against the city.

Paris must spend about EUR 60,000,000 in application. If chosen as host of the Olympic Games, the capital should then invest roughly 6.2 billion euros in the run-up to the event, especially in infrastructure.

The town was the seat of the Olympic Games in 1900 and 1924, and lost the match in 2008 and 2012. Now the French capital will have to defeat strong candidates.
